Ode to a Slug

This is a little 4x6" painting. I did it after having the unprecidenting JOY of removing some extremely large slugs from the basement (when I say LARGE, I mean, like....4 or 5 inches long. Big buggers, though not as huge as the ones I encoutered around Seattle. Eek. Imagine a whole yard full of 8 inch long, 2 inch wide balls of slime, oozing everywhere....)

True story: When I was a kid, I was mortally terrified of slugs. Well, perhaps not so much terrified as mortally disgusted by them. I freaked out when a tiny, 1/4" long slug managed to crawl onto me once. But I managed to get over my fear, which was a good thing, because for some reason the slugs here in town are way bigger than the ones only a few miles out in the countryside. Fortunatly for the slugs in the basement, which I picked up (with my bare hands, of all things) and put outside to go along their way. XD Though slug slime does not wash off easily.
So I decided to paint a picture of a slug with big, watery blue eyes and a cute smile, because slugs are probably one of the most hated, unappreciated creatures on the planet. But I kind of like them. Maybe it's the eyes on stalks, or something.
